The Tale of Creepy Kosiur

Ed Kosiur, a former Democratic Vice-Chair of the County Legislature, City Council

President Assistant to the Commissioner of Social Services for youth

development and one time Assembly candidate, “retired” in 2020. His Statement

at the time said he was especially proud of helping to start a new summer camp

for county “youth”.

What he didn’t say was that he was being forced out because he was being sued

for sexually abusing two young people decades ago.

Lawsuits filed against Kosiur claim he molested two children from 1973-1975

when they were 11 and 12 years old. His lawyer at the time called Kosiur a “role

model” and said no one that knew him would believe any of this…his good

friends-County Attorney Chris Gardner and Legislator Gary Hughes, also

defended Kosiur. In October of 2020 old Uncle Ed denied all charges and seemed

to indicate he would not leave office. By December 15 th , his fellow Democrats

(including Gardner) sent him into exile with a forced retirement. Apparently, folks

ended up believing the victims, or more likely just saw Ed as a liability to

Democrats. At the time of his “retirement” Kosiur was earning over $110,000 in

his dual positions in the city and the county.

Of course, pushing Ed over the political cliff didn’t stop county Democrats from

bringing their good buddy back to a county job a few months later. He was hired

to “deliver mail” at the county office building-his boss? City Democrat Chair Tom

Bellick.
